PVC compound for pipe fitting was first used by Germany in 1936, and the world's first plastic water pipeline was laid in Britain in 1939. Since then, plastic pipes have developed rapidly, constantly replacing metal pipes or other traditional pipes. In the 1970s, the standardization and serialization of PVC compound for pipe fitting was realized internationally, which greatly promoted the production and application of plastic pipes in various countries.

What is the purpose of cpvc pipe fittings?


cpvc pipe fittings, also known as dry blends, are based on a combination of PVC and additives to provide the necessary formulation for end-use applications. The convention for recording additive concentrations is based on the number of parts per hundred (phr) of PVC resin. The compound is produced by tightly mixing the components together and subsequently transforming them into a gel product under the influence of heat (and shear). Depending on the type of PVC and additives, the compound prior to gelling can be a free-flowing powder/dry mix, or a liquid in the form of a paste or solution. PVC compounds can be formulated with plasticizers for use in flexible materials, called PVC plasticizing compounds, or for rigid applications without plasticizers, called UPVC compounds.



What should be noted in the design of cpvc pipe fittings and mold design?


1. cpvc pipe fittings as far as possible without sharp angles or abrupt changes, thickness changes are not large, to prevent the appearance of PVC degradation and deterioration.

2. cpvc pipe fittings should have more than 10 degrees of drawing angle, leaving about 0.5% shrinkage.



What should we pay attention to cpvc pipe fittings design?


a) The injection port of the mold should be slightly larger than the nozzle hole and larger than the diameter of the intersection of the main channel, so that the PVC material will flow into the mold cavity without stagnation and the pressure will be balanced.

b) Use cut-off gate as much as possible so that the slag will not flow into the product and the temperature inside the runner will be lowered and easy to form.

c) The gate should be designed at the thickest wall of the product with sufficient width and length between 6-8mm so that the PVC material flows smoothly.

d) In order to keep the pressure down and to facilitate the demoulding, the runner should be round, with a diameter between 6mm~10mm according to the size and weight of the product.

e) The mold temperature of cpvc pipe fittings should be controlled by cooling water control device so that the mold temperature is controlled between 30℃~60℃.

f) The surface of the mold of cpvc pipe fittings should be smooth and chrome plated to prevent corrosion.
